Why You Should Stop Teaching Too Much

If you’re not making as many sales that you should be, here is why.

When I talk to so many consultants and professional service providers, one of the biggest things that I hear about their marketing is…

“I’ve tried webinars, blogging regularly, guest blogging, seminars, webinars, etc..”

And they tell me that they have people come up to them and say “wow, that was amazing, thank so much for your content, I love  it” or they’ll say you’re great as presenter, or that was a great webinar. and then they walk away and do not buy!

Have you had that happen to you? I know I used to have that happened to me a lot.

The Biggest Reason Why You are Not Making Sales

You are teaching too much. You’re giving too much of the answers that they feel full. Even though you and I both know that you are only scratching the surface of what you can do to help them. They feel like that they’ve got all the answers they need now, and decide they’ll go away and figure it out for themselves.

So, there are three things you need to make sure all of your content does. Every piece of content you put out there must demonstrate your expertise and further the possibility of being hired.

Three Things Your Content Must Do

1. Understand the Situation

The first thing, you must make sure your content is doing is showing that you understand the situation. Showing that you are just like them or that you’ve helped people like them.

2. Demonstrate Your Expertise While Solving A Problem

The second thing that all of your content must do is a must demonstrate that you can solve their problem. You actually need to solve their problem partially or a fully but only one part of the equation.

3. Create A Need

And the third aspect that all of your content needs to do is create a need for them to come and engage into your services. You can happily solve their problem, you can delivery a lot of value but if you don’t then create a need for something more, maybe its implementation help, maybe its another problem that needs solving – you won’t make any sales.

Does Your Content Have All That?

So, three key things if you make sure that all of your contents does that, your webinars, your seminars, your blog posts, your videos. Everything you’re putting out there. I guarantee if it has all three you’re going to start making more sales.

Bottom line, you’ve got to stop teaching too much because you’re sabotaging yourself.
